Holiday Bazaar

Brockton Public Library 9am-12pm

Downtown Treasure Hunt

         Morning – events begin at 9 a.m.

· Fun for all – arts & crafts and “Downtown Treasure Hunt” at 10 locations

· Brockton Public Library – crafts, food & fun

· Pictures with Santa at Independence Associates, sponsored by Independence Associates, Tuxedos By Merian & HarborOne Credit Union. It’s tricked out to look like Edgar’s Department Store

· Holiday Bazaar at City Hall

· Brockton Historical society – sponsoring historical talks, factoids & fun at four separate sites on the treasure hunt

 

            Afternoon - Parade

· Armond Colombo "Winningest coach in Massachusetts state football history" is the Grand Marshal.

· Members of the 1972 BHS Football Team - Winners of the first Massachusetts Super Bowl.

· Parade was started by the Rotary Club as a way to bring more people downtown

· The parade is a true community event

· Lots of food, fun (and FACILITIES) – make it a day!! Its more than just the parade this year!!

· Clydesdales

· Eight marching bands

· Countless community groups – girl scouts, boy scouts, PACs & PTAs, etc.

· Santa comes at the end

Post-Parade

· Parade Awards handed out at City Hall

· Holiday music/sing along on City Hall Plaza

· Mayor light’s the city’s Holiday Tree (with ornaments made by BPS kids)

· Edgar Award presented

          Holiday Tree Ornaments – BPS Kids

· Since 2002, when the city first installed its downtown Holiday Tree, Brockton Public School students have created ornaments to display

· 17 schools (all elementary & middle schools) produce 20 ornaments each, providing color & creativity to the project

· Students at the Angelo are making their ornaments next week

         Santa Hat Day in the Schools

· The DBA donates over 18,000 Santa hats to students across the school system. This year, principals will be choosing which day to give out/decorate Santa hats
